Welcome to The Hush Puppy LV, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Las Vegas at 7185 W Charleston Blvd. This American restaurant is not just another eatery; it’s a culinary celebration of Southern comfort food that reverberates with the flavors of home. As I approached the vibrant entrance, the aroma wafting through the door beckoned me to indulge in their rich, soulful offerings.
From fried seafood to indulgent pasta dishes, The Hush Puppy LV has captured the essence of Southern cuisine. A true highlight from the menu is the hush puppies themselves, perfectly golden-brown, crispy on the outside, and delightfully tender within. Paired with the chicken Cajun pasta, which I learned was a favorite recommendation from the attentive waiter, Charlie, the meal quickly transcended expectations. His service, described as truly exceptional by multiple patrons, made the experience all the more enjoyable.
Stepping into the restaurant, you could feel the warmth of both the dishes and the people. Reviewers like Adriana and Angie shared stories of delightful interactions, noting how staff, like Charlie and Penny, ensured that customers felt right at home. The surf & turf stood out as another dish worth mentioning—a perfectly cooked steak complemented by clusters of succulent crab legs, showcasing the kitchen's attention to detail.
But it doesn't stop at the main courses. Side dishes like collard greens were deemed deliciously authentic, while sweet potato pie served warm garnered rave reviews for its exquisite flavor profile. While not every dish may hit the mark, such as the mac and cheese noted for lacking seasoning, the inviting atmosphere and exceptional service overshadow any minor missteps. Each visit feels like a gathering of friends, where stories are shared amidst local photos adorned on the walls.
The Hush Puppy LV doesn’t merely serve food; it serves tradition, warmth, and a slice of Southern culinary heritage right in Las Vegas. If you're looking for an authentic dining experience away from the hustle of the strip, where locals indulge in great food and heartfelt hospitality, make your way here. It’s a true testament to the power of Southern fare and the joy of sharing it with others. Be prepared to fall in love—one hush puppy at a time.
We decided to have dinner here on a whim. Monday evening 6ish pm. Upon arriving, the host informed us that the wait time to be seated would be 30-45 min. And another 30-45 for our food after ordering. They only have one waiter and one cook and a busser. The hush puppies are good! Chicken cajun pasta was delishes, recommended by our waiter. We also had the surf & and turf. The steak was cooked perfectly well. Got two clusters of crab legs good. Collard greens where delishes as well. Our waiter was Charlie, and he went above and beyond! Made sure we had drinks and hush puppies while we waited for our dinner. He brought over a slice of pecan pie, and it was delicious!!! Despite the wait times, we enjoyed our dinner.
Really awesome people run this place and work here. The service is excellent and the southern food is delicious too. It's mostly fried foods on the menu with lots of seafood choices. They do offer a decent steak and burger. Their menu has a good variety of sides to choose from and get a good side salad with your meal. The sweet potato pie was served warm and was amazing.
Having been born and raised in Western North Carolina growing up eating southern food. I can say this is the real deal fantastic food, good service, nice and clean dining facilities. I’ll be back.
OMG...I have missed this place!! I ate here all the time when I lived here years ago. I was so glad to see it was still here. I tagged along with my husband for a work conference. He had never been off the strip. He wanted to eat where the locals eat, and I knew this was the place. He absolutely loved it!! The food is so fresh and Penny gave amazing service. He said it was the best fried shrimp he's ever had. He had the all you can eat for 16.95 with fries and a salad bar. I had the shrimp cocktail which was fantastic and the chargrilled catfish. It was soooooo good. The Cole slaw is amazing as are the chow chow, cocktail sauce and tarter sauce. He said it will be a regular on his list every time he's in Vegas.
The food was very filling plus portions were big but mac and chesse was so lacking in the seasoning department. Service was 5 stars cause everyone was super friendly and understanding to our food restrictions. The atmosphere was very inviting and there where photos everywhere so I feel there's a unique story to be told. Also I ordered the jambalaya with a shrimp substitute instead of chicken.
That was amazing what a great experience We love the hush puppies here they are life! our server Hailee was absolutely pleasant super nice and she was extra sweet to us we really appreciate it she made sure everything was perfect we're so glad we came in and landed on her 10 /10 everything was hot and ready and she put a smile on our faces we definitely left happy and full thank you so If you're in the neighborhood and come in ask for Hailee she will treat you like family #omnipresent approved
0nly 1 server plus host had to wait for drinks, place order, refill drinks and checks. Staff was friendly but not on top of service. We arrived same time as 2 other parties and all 3 groups experienced same issues. Had jambalaya and catfish both were great. Have been eating here over 30 and can tell difference with new owners. No salad bar it was missed as I loved coleslaw. It is still available as a side.
What a great experience we had at The Hush Puppy. The new owner is a legend in the Las Vegas restaurant business. We’ve been customers of Hush Puppy for 50 years. So glad he came out of retirement to save this restaurant. It’s as good as it was 50 years ago.. Maybe a little more expensive than it used to be but worth every penny.
